The Final Leg of 2012 National Age-Group Chess Championships gets underway on April 7 - 10, 2012 at the Governor Corazon L. Cabagnot Tourism and Training Center in Kalibo, Aklan.
The Visayas Leg, which is hosted and sponsored by the Aklan Provincial Government headed by Governor Carlito S. Marquez and organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines led by its Chairman/President Prospero Pichay Jr, is open to all players 20 years and below who are NCFP members in good standing.
This event is supported by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and the Philippine Sports Committee (PSC) who encourages the development of the youth through sports particularly in the grassroots level.
This will be the last chance for players to compete for the Championship and earn the right to represent the country in the 2012 ASEAN+ Age-Group Chess Championships in Hue, Vietnam on June 10 – 20, 2012.
The top five (5) finishers will join the qualifiers from the Luzon and Mindanao legs in the Grand Finals to be held in Tanauan, Batangas on April 23 – 30, 2012. The Champions in the Finals earn outright berths to the 2012 Asian Youth Championships to be conducted in Sri, Lanka from June 23 – 30, 2012.
The tournament will be divided into the following categories: 20 years & below (boys and girls); 16 years & below (boys and girls); 14 years & below (boys & girls); 12 years & below (boys and girls); 10 years & below (boys and girls); and 8 years & below (boys and girls).
