Cebu city chess players continued to show force in Girls Under-10 scoring important wins at the second round of the National age-group chess championship in Cadiz city, Negros occidental.
The trio, Alpheeca Gonzales, Jasia Dorog and Methusellah Hoban repeated their first round rampage by defeating their respective foes with 2 points each going into the third round of standard chess competition.
Gonzales playing white mated Chloe Jane Abalos of host Cadiz city in just 23 moves of a Reti opening while her companion Dorog won a Queen at the 15th move forcing Sipalay city campaigner Zhem Ong to resign 12 moves later. Methusellah on the other hand, exploited Trisha Lhey Eschavez' mistake and converted it into a win in 46 moves of their irregular opening.
In Boys under 20, Top seed Fritz Bryan Porras of Iloilo city downed Lyster Franz Andador of Talisay city to earn 2 points together with Himamaylan bet Stephen Coleta also with two wins. Coleta stopped Jan Danielle Magalona in 43 moves of their Four Knight's encounter.
Other winners also with perfect scores are: Alphard Gonzales, Jeffu Dorog, Aeron Keife Charles Sinining, Zian Karl Anthony Procalla, Gil Casa Jr., Fiona Geeweneth Guierhem and Cristy Cabungcag.
