All is set for the staging of the National Amateur Chess Championship from February 5 to 10, 2015 at the PSC Athletes' Dining Hall, Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, Philippine Sports Commission, P. Ocampo St., Manila.
The tournament was approved recently by National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) Chairman and President Prospero Pichay Jr. as the next big project of the NCFP for 2015 following the 1st leg elimination event of the National Youth which will be held from January 20 to February 2 at the same venue.
The National Amateur is open to players Elo rated 1999 or below by FIDE. The Champion of the tournament will be sent to Halkidiki, Greece on 13-22 April 2015 for the World Amateur Championship where the top winner will be awarded an outright FIDE Master Title.
The tournament is being organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) and supported financially by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) in cooperation with the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
